I take up the brush to write, and with that same brush I paint flowers.
Stay a while, and look slowly.
Three Doors
From root to branch — beginning in traditional calligraphy, opening into folk and literati painting, and on into modern calligraphy. Step into each room and walk slowly, and you can see how one artist's brush kept widening.

여러 모양의 부채에 향기를 담다
A small show the artist curates herself each month (or quarter). Past exhibitions are gathered, one by one, into the archive.
The Many Faces of the Artist

One who takes up the brush to write,
and with that same brush paints flowers.
Pen name Saiam · Han Eui-suk. She studied under Yu Gyeong-hui (Solnae), Yun Byeong-jo (Usong), and Im Ha-ja.
Today she serves as a juror of the Korean Calligraphy Association and as a director of its Seoul Branch.
Rooted in traditional calligraphy, she has widened her brush into folk painting, literati painting, and modern calligraphy. Carrying aphorisms, scripture, and poetry onto the page, she continues a practice where words and images meet on a single surface.

Exhibition History
Solo and group shows, along with past online exhibitions, gather here year by year. In time, selecting each show will bring back the works that hung in it.
Leave a line before you go
If you looked quietly, leave a line of what you felt. It reaches the artist just as you wrote it.
Art, person to person.
If a work speaks to you, feel free to reach out by email. From the story behind a piece to how you might own it — slowly, person to person.
Mapo Cultural Center Members' Exhibition
Those who took up the brush alongside Saiam. A time when writing, painting, and people gathered in one place.
